BIO
NICK WOLCOTT - founder, lead pilot
I remember as a little kid not being able to fall asleep on the nights before family vacations just too excited knowing that in the morning I'd be looking out the window of an airplane. I loved seeing the world from above, it was beautiful, the colors, the patterns, the way cars would get smaller and smaller as the plane climbed. That feeling, being in love with that perspective, is what led me to this work. At first I got my pilot's license to shoot out of a fixed wing aircraft but quickly realized it wasn't the tool for me. I wanted to be lower and slower than the plane could safely go. Then I stumbled across a YouTube video of some guys who had strapped a camera to the bottom of a remote-controlled helicopter that captured video of cars at a dirt track. By the time the 3 minute video ended I knew I wanted to quit my job as a newspaper photographer and chase after what I had just witnessed. That was a decade ago. I had no idea what I was jumping into, but I'm sure glad I did it.
